“Nothing is enough for the man to whom enough is too little.”
Astroscarlet, Sleigh Bells, Jennifer J
It is a much warmer morning, and if what the forecasters tell us comes true it will be the start of a period of settled and much drier weather. We have been across to Racecourse Side with first two lots, and have done fast work on the peat moss gallop which was opened for the first time today. It was like galloping on a carpet, and you could hardly hear the horses' hoofbeats as they flew by us. It’s such a fantastic gallop and I love it when I can get the horses across there and on to it. I was pleased with how everything went. Both Eddie and Ted were out and they were both complimentary of horses and ground.

We have two runners today – both evening meetings. Joe The Coat runs in the first at Kempton at six o’clock. This is his debut on polytrack, but he is drawn out in the car park and will have to overcome many things to get involved tonight. His first two runs have shown promise, and it’s disappointing we are so badly drawn. Our other runner is Smokey Oakey over hurdles at Towcester; he runs in the 7:45, the two mile three furlongs handicap hurdle. We don’t want the ground to dry up much more and he is having to carry a lot of weight for a small horse, but his form over hurdles is very good and consistent and I am sure he won’t be far away with a clear round tonight.

As mentioned above, I am looking for a good home for Cat Island; she is about 15.2, a very attractive and strong filly, a good ride and would be ideal for all sorts of equine pursuits. If anybody is interested please give us a ring or email us.
This is my last mention of football until the new season, but Alan at Garrowby pointed out to me last night that I hadn’t included York City in my round-up of the weekend yesterday. They won their play-off to enter the Football League beating Luton Town at Wembley and now, according to Alan, are back where they belong. Good luck to them.
