2010 bay filly by Avonbridge ex Rutland Water

A February foal, she is a strong attractive filly who looks a real two year old type by the very tough Avonbridge, who is getting plenty of quick horses. She gives the impression that an early campaign can be planned for her in 2012. She hails from a good winning female line, one I know well, which include Astrocharm, who won the Vodaphone Fillies stakes at Goodwood Group 3 for the yard a few years ago. If you want an early runner this is the one for you, and she won't break the bank either.

Joe The Coat
2009 grey gelding by Act One ex Torcross

A very attractive son of Act One. He is unusually coloured and looks very similar to The Tetrarch, who was known as 'The Spotted Wonder' and was voted as the Twentieth Century's best two year old - let's hope this one is as good! He looks the part for a start. The dam won at two and is already the dam of a winner. The family includes good winners in Shepherd's Watch and Desert Sun. He is a horse with plenty of scope. We have given him lots of time to develop and he will be running early in 2012. He has shown me plenty of ability, will stay well and I am sure will be one of those really improving types.

Like Clockwork
2009 bay gelding by Rail Link ex Tenpence
A strong, scopey horse who has had three runs so far. He has gained experience and improved for each run. His handicap mark looks to be fair and having had a break at Garrowby, will be an ideal horse to have plenty of fun with as a three year old. He will improve tremendously both physically and mentally for a winter on his back and I am really looking forward to training him this year.

A report on Mark's selection process:

Yearlings are purchased in the autumn to be prepared and trained for following season. Mark attends the sales worldwide in his search to find the winners of the future.
Pacemaker magazine reported Mark to be one of the top buyers of yearlings. The following shows the selection process that he undertakes for each yearling sale.
"We have bought some fantastic horses at unbelievably good prices over the years. This is where our hard work pays off - we look at almost every horse at each sale and therefore manage to find some exciting prospects.
"As I have said here before, the pedigree can sometimes set the price. But the horses we choose have merit all of their own. We buy yearlings that, in our opinion, have potential as racehorses; this means we do not buy just the pedigree. Athleticism, good-looks, great outlook and correct conformation are what we are looking for - genuine racehorses and potential winners.
"Whether we are spending £2,000 or £200,000 the same selection process is followed. We finally reach our 'to buy' list - some of which we buy but some of those on the list sell for far more than I consider is the right value.
"All I want is to give my owners plenty of enjoyment, so I try to buy them what I consider to be good, sound racehorses with scope for improvement at a fair price."
In addition to purchasing yearlings at auction, we can offer yearlings bred at Dulligham Park Stud. For example, Ted Spread, who was bred at the stud and is the winner of the 2010 Chester Vase, was purchased privately, as was the 2010 listed Galtres Stakes winner, Brushing.
Winning racehorses is what we are looking for and this is our constant aim on behalf of our owners.
The following are just some of the previous purchases made by Mark:
Winner of the St Leger (Gp 1) - Bob's Return (bought for under £15,000 and won in excess of £530,000)
Winner of the Duke of York Stakes (Gp 2) - Steenberg (bought for approx. £15,000 and won over £220,000)
Winner of the Gladness Stakes (Gp 3) - Cool Edge (bought for approx. £750 and won over £100,000)
Winner of the Brigadier Gerard (Gp 3) - Smokey Oakey (bought for approx. £12,000 and won over £140,000)
Winner of the Lily Langtry Stakes (Gp 3) - Astrocharm (bought for under £10,000 and won over £110,000)
Group & Listed placed - Babodana (bought for £15,000 and won over £220,000)
"I am delighted to have had great success for my owners," added Mark. "Owning a racehorse is all about fun, excitement and new experiences, but there are no guarantees - you still need that little bit of luck!"
Once budgets and orders have been agreed, your request can be included in Mark's search for the 'cream of the crop' of young stock.
