Join our exciting new ownership scheme
"I have grouped together six two-year-olds (five colts and one filly)
in order to offer a new idea in racehorse ownership. You can buy as little as 1% in the group of six horses
or take up to 50%."
"I thought it would be a way to get involved in many horses for a set period of time," said Mark. "If successful, I hope to continue this in the years ahead as I see it as a great way of offering owners more runners and days out at the races for everyone to enjoy. Certainly the interest is greater and therefore I hope the rewards would be too."
The price includes all training fees and expenses up to the Horses in Training Sale 2009, when they will all be offered for sale and proceeds distributed accordingly. The horses may be sold during the season, if the right offer is received and a profit is to be made.
It is a venture offering:
1. The chance to be involved with six horses for little cost but giving continued entertainment throughout the flat season
2. The chance to make a profit, although not guaranteed
3. All horses will be sold in the Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale in November 2009
4. The chance to make new friends and see different parts of the country when going to the races with each horse
5. The chance to see how various horses progress in their formation years
6. The chance to entertain clients and friends at the races throughout the year
COSTS:
1% - £2,600 + VAT
5% - £12,000 + VAT
10% - £22,000 + VAT
25% - £55,000 + VAT
50% - £100,000 + VAT
Pedigrees and photos of the six horses to be entered into the scheme follow below.
If you or a friend are interested, please contact Mark direct on 01638 661434 or 07799 663339.
This venture was only to go ahead only if 25% or more was taken up by 1st June 2009. This has now been taken up and therefore the venture is up and running.

"A most lovely colt with everything: looks, movement, attitude.
"From the family of Alfie Flits, there is a lot of speed on the dam's side. The sire, Pearl of Love, was a Group 1 winner in Italy, Group 2 winner in Ireland and won the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. A very tough, genuine horse."

"This colt was the best walker at the sales. The last one I bought like this went on to win the Russian Derby after I sold him! I am delighted with his progress this spring.
"From family of Melbourne Cup winner Might and Power. Indian Haven looks to be a top sire in the making (sire of winner of the Somerville Tattersalls Gp 3 and second in the Cheveley Park)."

"From the family of Solid Approach and Snoqualmie Boy. Traditionally is a sire that I've always liked and is now starting to get plenty of winners."

"A big, strong colt full of scope and promise.
"He is a brother to a winner and from the very good family that in fact goes back to our own Smokey Oakey and Balla Cove, who won the Middle Park (Gp 1). An early foal, out of a Barathea mare. Exciting prospects lie ahead for him."

BOB THE PIRATE
CHESNUT COLT: BY BAHAMIAN BOUNTY EX BOBBY'S DREAM

| BOB THE PIRATE Chesnut colt 19th May 2007 |

"Strong colt, good attitude to the job. He is the most backward of the colts as he is a May foal, but he is catching up fast and could be a surprise package.
"This is the same cross (Bahamian Bounty out of a Reference Point mare) as Berk The Jerk, who was very successful for me. He went on to be a Black-type winner."

Pacemaker magazine has reported Mark Tompkins to be the top buyer of yearlings at Tattersalls. He attends the major yearling sales every autumn. Once budgets and orders have been agreed, your request can be included in Mark's search for the 'cream of the crop' of young stock.
Below are some of his comments from the News page in the autumn of 2007:
"We have bought some fantastic horses at unbelievably good prices. This is where our hard work has paid off - we have looked at almost every horse at each sale and therefore have managed to find some exciting prospects.
"As I have said here before, the pedigree can sometimes set the price. But the horses we choose have merit all of their own. We buy yearlings that in our opinion must have potential as racehorses - this means we do not buy just the pedigree, even though we get bombarded by all the vendors at the sales giving us updates of what the family of the yearling that you are looking at has done - placed in a Listed race, won a maiden etc. - even horses back in the third generation are mentioned! This never means a jot to us. Athleticism, good-looks, great outlook and correct conformation are what we are looking for - genuine racehorses and potential winners.
"Whether we are spending £2,000 or £200,000 the same selection process is followed. We finally reach our 'to-buy' list - some of which I bought last week, but some of those on the list sold for far more than I thought they were worth. There was only one horse that I was disappointed I did not buy - a colt that made £135,000 - and I would have paid that for him as I thought he was worth every penny! Most of our Irish purchases would have made double or treble in the recent sales - and therefore are great value. So, don't be put off by the ridiculous prices paid by others over the last ten days."
Spending a fortune on horses does not necessarily mean having winners as Mark has shown with his shrewd purchases, including Cool Edge (bought at a cost of approximately £750 and went on to win over £100,000 in prize-money), Babodana (bought for approximately £15,000 and has gone on to win over £200,000 in prize-money) and Steenberg (bought for 12,500 guineas and has gone on to win over £220,000 in prize-money).
To register your interest in any of the horses, please contact the office on 01638 661434.
Please note that the purchase prices of horses for sale named on this page are plus VAT and will increase by £2,000 per month to reflect the costs incurred as each horse is prepared for racing.
