Captain Clint this morning
JENKO'S UPDATE - 9TH MARCH 2010
'Speaking to Mark on the heath a few days ago if it keeps going to plan our three-year-olds will all be seeing a racecourse in April. Great news after the hard winter - we could all do with some sun on our backs and a day at the races!
'Captain Clint looks much more mature takes everything in his stride and Mark is sure the proposed step up in trip will be the making of him this year.'
'Physically everything has fallen into place with Fasette and she now looks a proper racehorse. A big filly, she was always going to be better at three and the way she goes about her work now confirms that.

Red Smokey
'Red Smokey somehow avoided the racecourse last year but her progress to date has pleased Mark and, with normal luck, she will soon be making up for lost time.

Locum
'Locum has never settled so well in his work and is another who will run early on. Mark said he will step him up in trip as the season goes on and he could improve quite a bit for it. Whatever the case, having been placed fourteen times (including his win at Yarmouth) in the last two seasons, we are sure to have some more great days with him this year.
'Four Miracles has had a final scan and was given the ok to start cantering late last week. Mark will go gently with her for a few while and step her up gradually. He added that she will be a bit rusty and expects it will take a couple of runs to bring her to her peak but will be back to make the most of her favoured fast ground in some nice races this season.
'Finally, all positives with our two-year-old Comrade Bond as Mark is delighted with him. He works very well with our more forward two-year-olds and looks an exciting prospect. It is early days, but the boss is talking about May for his debut run and will be doing some work in the stalls with him very shortly.'

'A strong, attractive colt and half-brother to two winners and out of a Grand Lodge mare, from the good Lady Blackfoot family. In fact the second dam, North Kildare, was the dam of our very successful filly Four Miracles. A February foal, he is another that looks like being a real two-year-old.'
We also have a share available in Locum.
"Locum is ultra-consistent," said Mark. "Year-on-year he gives his syndicate owners plenty of days out, lots to cheer about, as well as prize-money! He has been a cracking horse for everyone to follow and I feel sure he would give
a new syndicate member lots of enjoyment!"
Last season alone he won and finished in the first four home a further six times (at Epsom, Chester, Ascot, Pontefract, Yarmouth and Leicester). From twenty-four starts he has finished in the first four seventeen times.

One of the pioneers of multiple ownership, Mark Tompkins is continuing his successful syndicates in 2010. One-twelfth shares in horses are available, and we keep things simple.
Mike Jenkins, known to us all as Jenko (pictured right), runs the syndicates for Mark and is the main point of contact for all the members. An ex-amateur jockey who also used to ride out at Flint Cottage on a regular basis, he shares his enjoyment of the sport with the members via e-mail, telephone and in person.

HOW WE OPERATE
- All net prize-money won and the proceeds of any sale are divided proportionately between members.
- Our owners are welcome to visit the yard to see their horses in training on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
- One complimentary owners' badge is guaranteed per member when your horse runs.
- There is no limit to the number of shares an individual, or group of people, can hold.
- Some members have been with us since the 1980s which is testament in itself to the enjoyment these syndicates bring.
Once a twelfth share has been purchased, a monthly payment of £180 to be paid retrospectively (starting from December 1st 2010) is required to cover all keep costs. A discount of 10% is offered for a full year's payment in advance and a 5% discount on future purchases for anyone introducing a new owner.
There will be nothing more to pay, other than in exceptional circumstances such as travel to race abroad or unusual veterinary bills. The monthly payment covers basic training costs, entry fees, travel to meetings, jockey fees, farrier's charges etc.
It is the responsibility of each individual member to sell his or her share if they wish to leave the syndicate, although obviously we would help with this as far as possible. If payments are not received for two successive months the share will be deemed to have lapsed, and will be lost with no refund or prize share due.
We are a friendly lot at Flint Cottage Stables, and Mark is always approachable at the races or at home.
Contact Jenko in the racing office to join the fun.
And, don't just take our word for it, below are just some of the quotes from syndicate owners:
"I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute I have spent as a part of such a fantastic yard... a special thanks must go to you Mr Jenkins... you know your job and are always on hand to answer any questions."
"Saying that it was the best day of my life would be to understate how I felt, one or two people thought I was having a heart attack when he crossed the line in front. I was more in danger of that when we got on the champagne."
"What a fantastic day!... It was great to meet the other members, what a lovely bunch of people."
"Another brilliant win and a great day out for us all! Well done and many thanks to all the team."
